    "Black Germany," Cambridge Press. "Germany and the Black Diaspora," Berghahn Books. It was still dangerous to be Black in Germany back then but many actually waited it out successfully and survived. Many kept a low profile or temporarily moved abroad, but some remained defiant, including stage-performers who found clever ways to mock their would-be tormenters.
